New Kids Accounts recieve €10 from us!
The Gr8 Savers Week (6th - 12th May) is an initiative to encourage young people to save with the credit union. We also hope that it will prompt parents and teachers to talk to children about the importance of savings for the future.
Experts believe that the age you learn about responsible money management and how to save has a huge impact on how you will handle finances as an adult.
Studies by Cambridge University show that financial habits in adults are set by the age of 7!
Below are some tips to encourage young people to save:
1. Make it visual - use a jar/piggy bank so that child can watch their savings grow to a certain amount before they deposit it in the credit union.
2. Depending on the age of the child, offer pocket money in return for chores/tasks completed around the house.
3. Decide on an amount of money to Save, Spend, Donate each week/month.
4. If the child really wants a particular toy/game etc. encourage them to save for it or towards it.

Kilcloon Credit Union welcomes younger savers, and we support events & competitions for our younger savers throughout the year. This year, to encourage more young savers in our credit union, we will deposit €10 in Shares (savings) to Kids Accounts (0-15) opened from 3/5/19 to 11/5/19.
